During the meeting the Parties discussed the matters concerning development of bilateral relations and prospects of cooperation in the wide range of issues that are in terms of reference of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Committee Chairman called for further extension of economic, scientific, scientific and technical, political relations of two neighboring countries, cooperation at the high level of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He also informed of the political situation in the country.
Inter alia, Oleh Bilorus dwelled on constant strategic course of our State towards European integration and Euro-Atlantic cooperation.
The Committee Chairman informed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus about activities concerning creation of The Verkhovna Rada Deputy Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Belarus.
Oleh Bilorus commented on the practice of extending work of commissions to the level of assemblies (involving two and three Parties). He emphasized that Ukraine will support the partner country, in case the Belarusian Party is willing to proceed to the assembly level.
In his turn, Valentin Velichko offered Oleh Bilorus official congratulations on being elected Committee Chairman from the Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and Relations with the Commonwealth of Independent States of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus National Assembly. He also drew attention to the issues concerning extended cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus in the field of trade; development of trade and economic relations, science, education etc.
